Science is the adaptation of thought and the application of experience. So is venture capital.

In short, we are impact Venture Capitalists. In detail, we are so much more. We are a team of technologists, operators and investors who exist to drive momentum in the campaign for climate action in Sub-Saharan Africa. We know low-carbon technologies and business model innovation are by far our best chance of tackling global warming and so we invest in these areas to slow its current trajectory and ensure the resilience of communities and businesses against its effects. Across energy, agriculture and mobility, we tap into a growing universe of talent to realise ingenious yet scalable solutions to mitigate looming crises. Through a thesis-led approach, we combine our access to global tech IP and deep in-market experience to forecast the opportunities and source the big ideas that will create change at scale. As a collective, we build valuable ventures that will make a difference to people, to pockets and to the planet.

Factor E is our sister organisation of early-stage venture builders and pre-seed investors. Factor E’s mission is to build and invest in high-impact energy, agriculture, water, and mobility ventures in emerging markets. It has a proven track record of starting and actively supporting pre-seed stage ventures and brokering global innovative technologies to markets that need them the most.

While Factor E and Equator share similar values and a thesis-driven investment approach, we are independent institutions with separate investment decision-making and distinct accountability to our respective investors and portfolio companies.
